Marmaros is a newly founded cooperative, the structure of which seeks to embody certain basic characteristics of collaborative systems of organisation of the past, married with contemporary business demands. The aim is the preservation and the perpetuation of the traditional vocation of marblecraft amidst the global market. The politics of the cooperative is expansive, with the strategic goal of reaching and including a larger network of collaboration. The internal structure of Marmaros is organised in successive circles of collaboration, with a core group of artists, craftsmen and academics, the majority of whom are affiliated with the island of Tinos by virtue of completing studies at the renowned School of Fine Arts in the village of Pyrgos in Tino.
